This interactive half day masterclass will focus on all the changes that the Labour Government plan to introduce helping you get to grips with significant changes to dismissal law, family friendly laws, rights for trade unions and their members and changes to pay.

What we will cover:

  • Day one rights for unfair dismissal and the importance of managing probationary periods effectively

  • Banning “exploitative” zero hours contracts

  • Ending fire and rehire

  • Changes to parental leave

  • Reform of sick pay

  • Changes to equality laws – Equality (Race and Disability) Bill

  • National minimum wage

  • Single status of worker and rights for the self employed

  • Safeguarding pregnant employees

  • Sexual Harassment – increasing employer’s duties to prevent it from occurring

  • Increasing the time limits to be able to pursue a claim in an employment tribunal

  • Increases of compensation limits for breach of contract claims in the employment tribunal

  • Bereavement leave

  • Changes to trade unions and membership

  • The right to switch off

Meet Your Trainer: Kate Shepherd

Kate is a charismatic employment lawyer who specialises in online employment law training and HR consultancy. She trains and advises a diverse set of employers from small and medium sized enterprises to charities, PLCs and international companies, as well as taking board level director roles for some clients. Prior to establishing her consultancy, Kate Shepherd Associates in 2005, Kate qualified as a solicitor, and practised employment law at a senior level with a leading firm in the Midlands.

Kate is an associate for leading organisations involved in learning and development including the CIPD, Pearson Business School and MBL Seminars and has published a leading textbook “Advising Effectively on the Employment Aspects in a Corporate Transaction – A Practical Guide for Junior Lawyers”
